How to comply

Retrofit is a more cost effective route to compliance than replacing your vehicles.  The rules of the London LEZ scheme allow vehicles to be upgraded using retrofit emissions technology.  Eminox has 2 fully approved retrofit alternatives the Continuously Regenerating Trap (CRT) and the Fuel Borne Catalyst (FBC).

Our approved particulate abatement systems are available for the most common vehicles.  If your vehicle isn't listed please ring us on freephone 0808 156 2012 or complete our LEZ Enquiry Form* to register your requirements.

Eminox trained technicians have successfully upgraded thousands of vehicles at fitting centres located throughout the UK, allowing them to meet the LEZ standards.  Please contact us for details of your nearest fitting centre.

How the London LEZ scheme operates

Vehicles that do not meet the emissions requirement of the LEZ are still allowed to drive in London, but they are required to pay a daily charge of £200. This means retrofitting starts to become economical at 15 - 30 journeys inside the LEZ.

Operators who do not pay the daily charge and whose vehicles are identified as not meeting the emission standards, will incur a penalty charge of £1000 (reducing to £500 if paid within 15 days).

Data held by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) and other agencies is used to identify the emissions standards of vehicles. The date of first registration can be used to determine a vehicle's emission standard in the majority of cases.

The Low Emission Certificate (LEC) or Reduced Pollution Certification (RPC) is used to identify vehicles fitted with approved particulate abatement equipment. Vehicles fitted with an Eminox CRT® or FBC system will qualify for LEC or RPC certification.
