London Mayor, Sadiq Khan has confirmed the Central London ULEZ will be introduced 17 months early, from 8 April 2019.
The zone will cover the same area as the congestion charge zone, will operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and will affect all vehicles.
The minimum standard for buses, coaches and HGVs to enter the zone, without charge, is Euro VI for both NOx and particulate matter. This can be achieved through technology such as Eminox SCRT®.
technology achieves emissions levels at Euro VI standards and has been approved by the Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme (CVRAS)
, meaning that it is also compliant for Clean Air Zones and Scottish Low Emission Zones.
Eminox was chosen to be one of five firms to upgrade around 5,000 Transport for London buses to Euro VI standards with SCRT systems and has already been retrofitted to thousands of vehicles across the globe.
The Mayor of London will also consult on expanding the ULEZ to the whole of Greater London, for heavy duty vehicles, from 2020, which will impact on many more vehicles, should it go forward.
