Twelve adventurous
workmates from Eminox in Gainsborough have volunteered to put team spirit
to the test by taking part in the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) exciting
Trans Peak Team Challenge event on the 24th September to raise at least £1,500
for the charity.
Team leader and Deputy General Manager, Nick Lyons initially expected to select the best competitors but now hopes to field two teams. He said, “This event looks like a great challenge that will really build team spirit and morale plus generate a bit of healthy competition! We’ll also be helping a very worthwhile cause and have lots of fundraising activities planned. Training has already started with weekly runs and bike rides so we hope to do well on the day. Some members of the team have taken part in the 38 Mile Humber Bridge Bike Ride for the BHF so we hope to have a head start!”
14 teams have already signed up to take part in this exciting, teambuilding challenge, which will be raising vital funds to fight heart disease. Teams of 4-6 will work together to complete a nine stage, 26 mile sponsored journey across the rugged terrain of Derbyshire’s spectacular Peak District using foot and pedal power that finishes in the magnificent grounds of Chatsworth House. Teams will split the course between them so that each person covers around 14 miles each during the twelve hour challenge. To get ahead teams will need to use their combined determination and ingenuity to achieve the quickest overall time.
The event has grown in popularity since it was launched two years ago and last year the event raised over £35,000. Teams taking part will be helping support the fight against heart disease by pledging to raise at least £1,500 sponsorship. As well building team spirit and giving a tremendous sense of personal achievement there are also prizes on offer for the team completing the challenge in the quickest overall time and the highest fundraisers.
To help their fundraising efforts the Eminox team are organising a Grand Prize Draw and already have some fantastic prizes up for grabs including; a 3 month pass and 20 7 day passes to West Lindsey Leisure Centre and Admission to the Battle of Britain Flight Museum at RAF Coningsby.
Kevin Bazeley, Head of Events for the BHF said, “We’re delighted that Eminox have signed up to take part and may even field two teams, they’re setting a great example to their customers, colleagues and other local businesses. We’d urge anyone who wants to take part in this event to sign up fast to guarantee a place.
All teams who take part will have the full support of the BHF events team and receive as much help and advice on raising the sponsorship as they need. This event is one of the region’s highest fundraisers, Money raised allows the BHF to continue its life-saving research into the causes, prevention and treatment of heart disease in men, women and children.”
