This position has arisen due to significant success in the award on new business for the London Ultra Low Emission Zone. You will be involved in the diagnostics, repair and service of engine exhaust after treatment devices and stainless steel exhaust systems for PSV and HGV vehicles. A general sound working knowledge of diesel, automotive electrical, air and fuel systems will be required along with mechanical skills. The role is a field service engineering role and will involve a continuous amount of UK travel and overnight stays. This will include significant work in London over the next few years. Potentially international travel may be required. A flexibility to work night shifts as and when required is also essential.

The government has now published its draft Air Quality Plan, outlining how it will tackle air pollution, particularly nitrogen dioxide, in our towns and cities. The draft plan is for consultation, with the final plan due for publication by 31 July.

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) is calling on bus operators to take faster action on updating their fleets, as new figures show upgrading London’s buses with Euro VI vehicles could cut NOx emissions produced by buses in the capital by up to 75%.
