The London Low Emission Zone

Compliance solutions at a fraction of the cost of new vehicles

The London Low Emission Zone (LEZ) covers most of the Greater London area, excluding the M25, operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The following table shows which vehicles are affected and when:

Implementation Schedule and Emission Standards

Emission Standards Implementation Schedule

Euro III: This means that vehicles must meet a minimum standard of Euro III. Older vehicles would also be allowed to operate in the zone without charge if operators retrofit approved particulate reduction technology.

Euro IV: This means that vehicles must meet a minimum standard of Euro IV. Older vehicles would again be allowed if they had been adapted to meet the Euro IV PM standard.

The rules of the scheme allow for vehicles to be upgraded using retrofit emissions technology, to meet the required standards. Some Euro II vehicles may already be compliant; visit TfL's Engine Certification page for details.

Vehicles do not have to be replaced to meet the LEZ requirements. Eminox has 2 retrofit alternatives Continuously Regenerating Trap (CRT) and Fuel Borne Catalyst (FBC) systems. These are closed filter systems which can give compliance with phase 1 (2008) and phase 2 (2012) of the London LEZ. We have systems available for many popular vehicles.

Emissions Standard Upgrades

* Euro 4 compliance is subject to engine model confirmation
