To comply with ever tightening global legislation to reduce the environmental impact of Diesel emissions in Off Highway applications, we have been working with a leading global supplier of Industrial Engines and Gen Set packages to develop a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) silencer capable of operating at engine powers of 900bhp.
To meet the latest Tier 4i emission standard at such high engine powers requires a very large volume of SCR catalyst. This presents challenges in packaging the catalysts into the silencer without sacrificing Urea mixing and flow distribution.
We used our latest simulation software and development techniques to develope the SCR silencer to deliver excellent NOx emissions reduction performance without sacrificing fuel economy.
Working closely with the customer, our project team was able to deliver the project on time and within budget.
This successful addition to our product range has led to further projects with other major OEM's in the Non Road market to help them meet Tier 4i and the forthcoming Tier 4f standard.
