Diesel Oxidation Catalyst

The diesel oxidation catalyst, or 2-way oxidation catalyst, removes up to 90% of carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons. It can also reduce diesel particulate matter by up to 30%, although the typical range is 8-10%.

Because of the relatively small size of the oxidation catalyst, the complete system is usually a direct replacement for the original which simplifies design and fitment, lowering the cost.

This maintenance free system, housed in stainless steel, has a long life expectancy. The system does not require low sulphur fuel and is resistant to ash produced by the burning of engine oil, making it suitable for a wide variety of vehicles or where low sulphur fuel (50 ppm) is not available.

Alternative Fuels Oxidation Catalyst

The use of gas as a clean alternative to diesel can increase the emissions of methane hydrocarbons (HC), a powerful greenhouse gas.  Eminox works closely with OEM's using alternative fuels to develop specialised oxidation catalyst systems to reduce HC emissions.
