You will be responsible for all elements of commercial activity in relation to new and existing products and suppliers, including the monitoring and sourcing of commodities and for the ongoing negotiations of terms and conditions including payment terms, benefits and pricing with new and existing suppliers.  Ensuring consistent and traceable processes utilised and developed to enable strategic goals.

You will have responsibility for delivering cost benefits and savings, supporting the supplier selection process and the introduction of new products to the supply base.  Working closely as part of project teams to deliver to specified requirements in terms of product suitability, lead time and cost.

Providing regular, consistent updates to the business of commodities pricing and influencers, cost impacts and opportunities and risks.

Responsibilities:
• Key business contact for all elements of supply chain relating to new business initiatives and sourcing projects ensuring all stakeholders informed and managed appropriately to deliver initiatives effectively and efficiently
• Advise the team on all aspects including supplier capabilities and trends.  You will lead cross-functional sourcing teams and be responsible for worldwide supplier base utilising tools such as leveraging, cost driver analysis and global sourcing to effectively drive cost out of the supply chain
• Design to cost – in-depth knowledge of design to cost ethos.  Confidence and experience to challenge design at concept stage to ensure best long-term total-cost solution
• The generation and successful delivery of materials cost saving initiatives which improve company profitability
• The preparation of material budgets, forecasts and cost saving plans
• Monthly reporting of purchasing activities and supplier issues which affect the business

Person Specification:

Education and Qualifications:

• Supply chain or Engineering degree preferred
• MCIPS preferred
• Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently, including preparing and delivering presentations, participation in purchasing negotiations as technical support, negotiating specifications and process requirements
• Experienced in preparing presentations, reports and making proposals
• Knowledge of contract law and contract negotiation
• Experience of CI & S&OP methodologies preferred
• Computer literate (Microsoft Office/Outlook)
• Valid clean driving licence

Previous Experience:

• Not less than three years in an engineering/procurement role, preferably gained within the automotive or manufacturing industry
• Experience of dealing with global supply chains
• Experience of capacity planning with outsourced factories
• Commodity management and strategy planning
• Compilation of cost saving plans and associated benchmarking activities.
• Understands and has experience applying basic Lean Manufacturing principles in a low volume/high mix environment
• Able to work cross functionally with personnel from various organizations including Manufacturing, Engineering, Technical Development
• Ability to recommend (using data) and implement sound solutions and strategies in a fast paced environment where priorities change often
• Ability to prepare, issue, evaluate and award RFQ’s and tenders
• Experienced in working with senior level management, both internally and externally
• Knowledge of and experience in working with a Quality Management System including ISO 9001, or IATF 16949
• Evidence of high standard of communication and stakeholder management
