FBC System Operating Conditions
The Eminox FBC system depends upon the use of Satacen® fuel additive
for regeneration of the filter, which prevents large accumulations
of soot and eventual filter blockage. The system is not designed to work with
any other additive! Use of the incorrect additive, poor vehicle maintenance
and excessive engine smoke or oil consumption can prevent the FBC system from
operating satisfactorily.
Satacen®
Satacen® is a fuel additive developed by the Innospec Inc.,
one of the worlds leading fuel treatment specialists. Without Satacen®, the
system will not function correctly and excessive soot will build up in the
filter. This will have an adverse effect on fuel consumption and over prolonged
periods could cause damage to engine components.
- Only Satacen® and no other additive should be used in the
FBC system.
- The vehicle should not be driven if the Satacen® tank is allowed
to run dry.
- The FBC system will require priming if the Satacen® storage
tank is allowed to run dry or the injector system is repaired or replaced.
Fuels
- The FBC system is sulphur tolerant and does not require low sulphur fuel.
- Do not use fuel additives other than those already incorporated in general
commercial diesel fuel supplies.
- Additionally the following biodiesel and water-diesel emulsion fuels
are approved for use with the FBC system:
- Biodiesel
- Greenenergy Global Diesel, 5% biodiesel, 95% ULSD
- Global Commodities UK Ltd, driveEco
- Rix Biodiesel Ltd, Bioblend 5
- Petroplus Marketing Ltd, Bio-plus
- Water-fuel emulsions
- BP Aspira @ 10% demineralised water
- Lubrizol PuriNOxTM @ 10% demineralised water
Engine Smoke
The level of smoke produced by the engine should not exceed the maximum
limits set by the engine manufacturer.
Engine Oil
Low ash oils are recommended to maintain the filter service interval and
optimal FBC system performance.
- Ensure engine oil consumption is within engine manufacturers limits, typically
less than 1 litre per 1,000km.
During normal operation, ash, which is an incombustible material (mainly
the residues of burnt engine oil), can gradually build up in the filter. This
is removed by regular servicing.

Vehicle Operation
- Under no circumstances should the vehicle be operated without Satacen®,
the Fuel Additive.
- The vehicle must be serviced according to manufacturer’s recommendations
in order to maintain the optimal engine performance, which the FBC system
is designed to be compatible with.
